Going camping without a decent quality tent to rest in at the end of a long, stressful day hiking is never much fun. A tent should give you a peaceful, dry, comfortable place to sleep and relax.

Thankfully, if you just need a tent for your own personal use, it doesn't have to be large or heavy. 1 person tents are incredibly small and easy to transport. You could attach the tent to your backpack, or - since they are so small - just drop it inside your bag.

1 person tents come in multiple shapes, from larger dome shaped tents, to smaller "A" shaped tents that are just large enough to lay down in. Which one you purchase depends entirely on your needs. If you just want a tent to lay down and sleep in, it doesn't have to be all that big. Keep in mind, however, you may want a dry place to keep your backpack and gear at night. Storing them in the tent keeps them from getting damaged by the elements, wildlife, and other campers - but it does take up a large portion of a 1 person tent, so be sure to take that into account when making your buying decision.
